WhatsApp is set to revolutionize its status updates by introducing a music feature, enabling users to share songs alongside their photos and videos. The feature mirrors Instagram’s music sharing option and is currently available in the WhatsApp Android beta version (2.25.2.5).
The update introduces a music icon within the status section. By tapping the icon, users can browse and select their favorite songs, artists, or trending tracks. Once chosen, a 15-second clip can accompany a photo-based status, or users can customize the duration to align with video status updates.
For videos, the song duration will sync with the video’s length, ensuring a seamless multimedia experience. This interactive feature is part of Meta’s collaboration with Universal Music Group, providing access to an extensive music catalog for WhatsApp users.
After its initial testing phase on Android and iOS, the feature is expected to roll out globally. This enhancement aligns with WhatsApp’s efforts to create engaging and personalized experiences for its users.
The new music feature complements WhatsApp’s recent updates to the status section, including an improved interface and new reaction options. Users can expect more creative tools in upcoming updates to elevate their messaging experience further.
Previously, WhatsApp introduced camera effects, selfie stickers, quick reactions, and sticker pack sharing, offering users 30 backgrounds, filters, and effects to add a creative touch to their chats.
By integrating music into status updates, WhatsApp offers users a unique way to express themselves and set the mood for shared content. The feature also enables viewers to tap on the displayed song, directing them to the artist’s Instagram profile for further interaction.
With this update, WhatsApp continues to strengthen its position as a leading messaging platform by blending functionality with creativity.
