Punjab Government’s School Nutrition Program
In the first three and a half months of the school nutrition program, children consumed over 1.39 billion rupees’ worth of milk, sources say. So far, 2.21 million cartons of milk have been distributed across more than 3,527 schools in three districts, according to sources. The Punjab government has received a bill of 1.39 billion 23 million rupees for the distribution of 2.21 million cartons of milk, sources say.
According to the Punjab government’s agreement, each carton of milk costs 63 rupees, sources confirm. In the first phase, the school nutrition program is being implemented in three districts of South Punjab: DG Khan, Rajanpur, and Muzaffargarh. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the School Nutrition Program on September 5.
