Kunbhar family marks a struggle for justice
In a development pertaining the murder case of eminent Sindhite Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Mirpurkhas lately denied bail before arrest plea of former Mirpurkhas DIG Javed Sonharo Jiskani and ex-SSP Asad Ali. Both officials are under investigation about their role in the murder, which was purportedly staged as an encounter in Sindhri on September 19.
Court Reluctance in Desperate Families Situation
The court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the two men thought to be in hiding as part of continuous investigation. The slow speed of justice has infuriated the family of Dr. Kunbhar, which includes his brother Babar Kunbhar and father Mohammad Saleh. Openly criticising the inefficiency of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), family lawyers Barrister Asadullah Shah Rashdi and Azhar Arain The family claims that the FIA has neglected crucial evidence including CCTV footage and the accused’s mobile phones, so undermining their case.
Delay by FIA and Demand for an Investigative Court
Turning sharply around, the FIA requested more time for ongoing investigation. Still, the court called off the hearing until December 18, so increasing the pressure on the authorities. The Kunbhar family has been outspoken in their demand for a court investigation, pointing out that the FIA handled the matter hardly satisfactorially. They have insisted on a more thorough and objective inquiry of the events around the death of Dr. Kunbhar.
Allegations of Torture: Manipulative Evidence
The terrible facts of Dr. Kunbhar’s murder have rocked his family. Advocate Ibrahim Kunbhar claims he was subjected to extreme torture prior to his death; his body later burned by a violent mob. The family says that fake evidence—including cell phones turned in to the court— compromises the validity of the inquiry.
The Report on Exhumation and Variations in the autopsy
Unbelievably exposing the truth-seeking process is a medical board exhumation report. Most importantly lacking from the first autopsy report was evidence of multiple fractures in Dr. Kunbhar still living. This disclosure begs even more issues regarding the validity of the initial inquiry and the responsibility of the medical personnel in the relevant field. The family has demanded against the doctor handling the autopsy; hence, vowing legal action should no action be taken.
Demand in responsibility and justice impartiality
The Kunbhar family is still uncompromising about their demand of justice. They have underlined once more their demand for the establishment of a judicial commission under the direction of a top Sindh High Court judge to guarantee a fair and comprehensive investigation.
Clearly unhappy about the continuous delays, the family has threatened to launch a constitutional petition should their demand for a court inquiry not be satisfied. Whether it is the officials engaged or those hindering the path of justice, they are resolved to hold those liable for the death of Dr. Kunbhar responsible.
There has to be constant fight for justice!
The Kunbhar family is adamant as the inquiry goes on and court cases start. Their demand for a judicial investigation into Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar reflects the more demand for justice in cases when sometimes responsibility is elusive. The family looks not only for justice for Dr. Kunbhar but also for the healing of faith in the system meant to defend the innocent given growing evidence and unresolved issues.
