Viral Diss Track between Drake Against Kendrick Lamar

The Feud Destroying the Musical World

Two of the most well-known hip-hop artists, Drake and Kendrick Lamar, are caught in a furious dispute that has lately split into legal territory. Growing tensions, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, the Canadian rapper most recently sued iHeartMedia and Universal Music Group (UMG). The focal point of dispute is Lamar’s record-breaking diss track *Not Like Us*, which has created waves in streaming charts as well as courtroom buzz.

    The flames under the fire

Published earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar’s *Not Like Us* stirred controversy with its pointed lyrics meant for Drake. With lines like “Drake, I hear you like” and references to a “certified pedlete,” the song sparked a lot of conversation. Denying the hints in the song, Drake has angrily claimed it to be defamatory and detrimental to his career.

In a petition to Texas’s Bexar County District Court, Drake claimed UMG and iHeartMedia employed unethical marketing techniques to boost Lamar’s appeal. Aiming at UMG and Spotify, Drake’s accusations of “manipulative promotion,” including claims that Not Like Us used bots and pay-to- play strategies, center on filing a similarly lawsuit at New York Supreme Court.

UMG, which also represents Lamar via its Inters cope Records subsidiary, quickly refuting the charges said Drake’s remarks “contrived and absurd.”

The case has sparked more debate on the moral standards of digital age music promotion even if UMG has publicly denied any misconduct and labelled the claims as “offensive and untrue.” Bots, payola methods, and aggressive marketing campaigns are long sources of conflict in the company.

Could this legal battle lead to more transparency on record company pay to artists? Alternately will it close the distance separating two of Rap’s most talented musicians?

    A protracted struggle

Drake and Kendrick Lamar had already got one argument. Their conflict started with Lamar’s 2013 song *Control*, in which he freely revealed his intention to outshine several well-known rappers including Drake and mentioned several of them. Years of rivalry boiled; *Not Like Us* has brought it back this time with more legal ramifications and stakes.

    Damage and Past

As viewers and business insiders track this conflict, the stakes keep rising. Should Drake launch official lawsuits, the case could establish guidelines for how labels and musicians handle concerns about streaming era rights.

For now, one thing is rather clear, the conflict between Drake and Kendrick Lamar is a high-stakes legal clash rather than only lyrical one.
