8 Martyrs in Tirah Valley after Deadly Clashes
ISPR says in the first incident, exchange of fire was heavy from both sides in the Tirah Valley close to Bagh Maidan post. Local sources report that at least eight security personnel were martyred and three others wounded during the attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The clashes erupted after militants ambushed an army camp in the region. The violence led to intense fighting, which left multiple casualties among both the security forces and militants. The clashes broke out after armed militants attacked an army camp, triggering a gunfight that lasted several hours and left nine terrorists dead.
It disrupted the city, with businesses in the area close for two days. On Tuesday, tensions relaxed and shops were able to reopen. Local traders protested for compensation in the aftermath of the violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as militants caused substantial damage. Many stores were destroyed by mortar rounds during the clashes. Which prompted the affected business owners to demand reparations.
Suicide Attack in Bannu Claims 11 Lives
In a separate but equally devastating incident, a suicide bomber targeted the Malikhel check post in Bannu’s Janikhel area, claiming the lives of 11 security personnel. The explosion also left two individuals critically injured.
Following the blast, militants launched an armed attack, resulting in an intense exchange of fire. The injured and martyred were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities.
The attack comes amid an alarming rise in militant activity in Bannu, where recent weeks have witnessed increased targeting of security installations and public infrastructure.
Rising Militancy and Public Demand for Action
Bannu district has been a hotspot of militant activity in recent months. Just days before the Malikhel attack, militants abducted over half a dozen policemen from a North Waziristan border check post. Tribal elders played a crucial role in securing their safe rescue, facilitating talks between the security forces and the militants. Additionally, militant groups have targeted under-construction schools and other public assets, further destabilizing the region.

Just two hours after the first attack, another suicide bomber attacked Malikhel check post in Janikhel area of Bannu, killing 11 security personnel. The blast also left two other people with critical injuries.
After the blast, militants also carried out an armed attack with a heavy exchange of fire. The wounded and deceased were immediately taken to nearby medical centers.
