The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has categorically denied rumors about “hybrid model” for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host.
According to reports, the UAE would host India’s matches. While Pakistan would host the remaining matches. The board’s position on the issue is unaltered, according to PCB sources. Who have underlined that no such scheme is being considered.
A representative for the PCB informed Sports Tak, “The hybrid model is not being considered. Documents confirm that the stance has not changed. Just to acquire views, people submit articles. We haven’t decided yet about the Champions Trophy, and we’re standing our ground.”
The event’s controversy arises from the lack of certainty about India’s attendance at the tournament in Pakistan. The Indian government has not yet granted the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) request to allow Team India to compete in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
According to a previous article by *Sports Tak*, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is evaluating a number of ideas for the Champions Trophy 2025, which could include the following:
1. Pakistan’s Complete Champions Trophy
2. Hybrid Model: Pakistan will host the remainder of the tournament, while the UAE will host matches featuring India as well as the semifinals and finals (should India qualify).
The third option is to hold the event entirely outside of Pakistan, such as in South Africa, Dubai, or Sri Lanka.
While maintaining Pakistan’s hosting rights, the ICC is investigating these options in response to the Indian government’s reluctance.
We anticipate revealing the Champions Trophy 2025 itinerary on November 11. But we haven’t finalized the location yet. We expect an ICC delegation to visit Lahore from November 10 to 12 to assess the tournament’s preparations.
