Court Orders Bushra Bibi’s Arrest After 10 Missed Hearings

    Bushra Bibi’s Arrest

Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, was issued an arrest warrant by a special court on Thursday in the new Toshakhana case for neglecting to appear in court for the past 10 hearings.

Imran was granted parole by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a recent Toshakhana case last month. However, the government has prohibited his release due to the pending bail in cases against him..

Imran and Bushra were apprehended in the case on July 13, following their acquittal in the Iddat case the same day.

Bushra was granted bail from the IHC in October, which enabled her to be released from custody. However, the PTI founder has been incarcerated since his detention on August 5 of last year in a separate Toshakhana case.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) recently accused the couple of retaining a costly Bulgari jewelry set, which included a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings, that was gifted to them by a foreign leader, at a low price. The FIA claimed that this action resulted in a substantial loss to the exchequer.

The couple’s indictment in the case was scheduled for October 2 by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand in September. In response to the defense counsel’s request for additional time, the date was postponed until October 5. Their post-arrest bond petitions had been rejected by Judge Arjumand the day prior.

Bushra was released from Adiala Jail on October 24. It was one day after the IHC approved her bail petition in the case.

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand presided over the hearing of Thursday’s case in a special court of the FIA. The case was postponed until Monday.

The guarantor of the accused was also served with a notice by the court.

According to party leaders, Bushra Bibi is believed to be in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the party’s leadership’s retreat from Islamabad in response to the police’s assault on their protest last week.

Imran is the subject of 76 cases that have been registered in Islamabad.
On Thursday, it was disclosed that Imran has been the subject of 76 cases in the federal capital.

According to a writ petition filed by Imran’s sister, Noreen Niazi. 62 first information reports (FIR) had been registered against the PTI founder.

A further 14 FIRs were registered against Imran in Islamabad following the protest by PTI in the federal capital last week.
