Kohli Climbs Back into Top 5 as Shaheen and Rizwan Drop in Latest ICC ODI Rankings

Kohli’s Century Elevates Him in ICC ODI Rankings as India Strengthens Grip on Batting Charts

India continues to dominate the ICC ODI rankings, with Virat Kohli’s outstanding century against Pakistan securing his place in the top five. His unbeaten 51st ODI hundred in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match in Dubai lifted him to fifth place. This century played a crucial role in India’s victory over their biggest rivals, solidifying their hold on the batting rankings.

With Kohli’s rise, India now has three batters among the top five, as Shubman Gill holds the number one spot. Captain Rohit Sharma maintains third place, while Gill has extended his lead at the top by 47 rating points. Despite struggling for form in the tournament, Pakistan’s Babar Azam remains in second place.

Pakistani Players Face Decline in ODI Rankings

Several Pakistani players have witnessed a drop in the ICC ODI rankings after below-par performances in recent matches. Fakhar Zaman, who made a comeback during the tri-nation ODI series, has fallen three places to 17th. He currently holds 621 rating points, reflecting his recent inconsistency.

Pakistan’s white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has also seen a decline, slipping from 16th to 20th place with 616 points. His underwhelming performances, including a mere three runs against New Zealand and 46 against India, contributed to this fall. Imam-ul-Haq, despite scoring only 10 runs in his return match against India, remains in 32nd position with 582 rating points.

Young left-hander Saim Ayub, absent since his injury during the South Africa Test series, has dropped eight places to 35th. He now holds 572 rating points, a significant fall from his previous ranking.

Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf Drop in Bowling Rankings

Pakistan’s leading pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has experienced a notable drop in rankings due to his lackluster performances in the Champions Trophy. Falling five places, he has moved from 4th to 9th, now standing at 619 rating points.

Right-arm fast bowler Haris Rauf has also suffered a decline, sliding six places to 22nd, with 553 points to his name. On a positive note for Pakistan, Naseem Shah has climbed two spots, now securing 42nd position with 491 rating points.

Major Gainers in ODI Batting Rankings

While Kohli was the only player to break into the top 10, several others made significant jumps in the rankings.

    • Will Young (New Zealand) – Up eight places to 14th
    • Ben Duckett (England) – Up 27 places to joint 17th
    • Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand) – Up 18 places to 24th
    • KL Rahul (India) – Up two places to 15th
    • Rassie van der Dussen (South Africa) – Up three places to 16th

Bowlers and All-Rounders Experience Ranking Shifts

Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana continues to be the top-ranked ODI bowler despite his team’s absence from the Champions Trophy. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan holds on to second place, maintaining his position among the best.

South African spinner Keshav Maharaj has moved up to joint fourth place, showing steady improvement. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Matt Henry and Australia’s Adam Zampa have climbed to sixth and tenth positions, respectively. Further down the list, Kagiso Rabada of South Africa rises four spots to 16th, while New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell has surged 31 places to 26th, marking a significant leap in rankings.
