    Apology by Anwar Maqsood Uses Grace to Resolve Conflict

    Beloved member of Pakistan’s literary scene, renowned playwright and comic Anwar Maqsood has stepped forward to respond to whirl-around accusations over his allegedly remarks and interaction with the Pakistan Navy. Speaking at the 17th Urdu Conference held at Karachi, Maqsood humbly apologised to everyone impacted by his words and refuted any claims of being arrested.

    Debunking Stories of “Kidnapping”

    The rumours made supporters and well-wishers both inside Pakistan and abroad express a flood of concern. Maqsood said he had not meant to devaluate or offend the martyrs’ sacrifices while he had spoken about the Navy.

    Reverence for martyrs

    Maqsood, well-known for his sharp sense of humour and great respect of national heroes, declared he will always honour those who lost their lives for their homeland. Though he has been writing for almost sixty years, he said, “I have never joked about martyrs.” “Thanks for their sacrifices; today I am here able to write and express freely.”

    Emphasising that he could not possibly consider disrespecting the national martyrs, the eminent writer genuinely apologized to anyone who could have misconstrued his remarks.

    Often a mirror of society, Anwar Maqsood vowed a change in his viewpoint moving forward. “I have talked about the living till right now. I won’t discuss them either moving ahead, he remarked, implying a more measured approach in his critique.
